Wow, hard to believe my last journal update was over 8 months ago! So far I went through pre-deployment training, deployment training and finally being deployed to Afghanistan. I am currently at 6 months in country, time has been going by pretty quick and lots of stuff has happened! When I get back I will update the journal with events that occurred. Once I get back I will try and get some more art up!

I can't go into too much details, but I will be out of the country for some time. As some of you may know, I am in the Army and when duty calls I need to respond to it and do what I can. I will check back from time to time since I will have some Internet access, consider this my goodbye for now! I look forward to seeing what 2013 brings when I return! Farewell for the better part of a year DA!

Soo.. me and a friend of mine are trying to start a band! We have nine or so songs that we are working on right now, I don't really know how to describe it. There are some fast ones, slow ones, loud ones, quiet ones, hard ones and soft ones. Some are instrumentals, others have lyrics. Some are mostly bass driven while others are guitar driven. I play bass and he does guitar/vocals. We are hoping to go to Chicago this fall and record at Electrical Audio which I got to tour in early July. It was quite awesome getting to see Steve Albini and all of his crazy stuff, he's a cool guy to talk to and has lots of crazy stories about random stuff! So far we got a full PA, decent instruments and almost ready to play some live shows. It's only a two piece band right now (no drummer yet), but it would be interesting playing that way in front of a live audience. We do plan on getting a drummer involved soon, if things all work out! The songs don't really have any names yet nor does the band though. Anyway, that's about it!

As of the 6th of January, I am once again employed! It took a long time, but I finally got a job again so I am pretty happy! It gives me a reason to wake up and puts money in my pocket again! I am almost done with the first week of training too.
I also decided that before I started work again, I would play (and beat) each game in the Mother (Earthbound) trilogy. I did just that, so I feel accomplished! It took a long time (most of the month) but I got it all done!
I got just a few more New Year's resolutions to take care of and then I am all good! I hope to have everything in order by June or July.

I've been pretty obsessed with listening to Shoegaze stuff lately. It only feels right to compile a list of artists I have the ultimate respect for and hope others find their music just as inspiring!

Typically all these bands share a lot of the same characteristics: guitars layered with multiple effects, less dominant vocals (lower in the mix), larger emphisis on bass and weird sound effects.
